Obviously, it sucks that governments are engaged in pervasive warrantless surveillance of everyone, everywhere, all the time. However, the Dutch government deserves minor kudos for not only publicly admitting it but making it a proactive announcement (instead of a vague pseudo-confession buried in some court-compelled legal response). Many other governments have been doing far worse unjustified mass spying for far longer and still refuse to willingly admit anything.
