I wonder how many "minimalists" will go to a church of stuff.

This is something I regularly confuse myself on. As I start to appreciate high quality things too much, a materialistic spiral begins. AT some point you're watching a 35 minute video on someone's top 10 favorite EDC items.

Is there a good way to appreciate stuff without making my life about stuff?

You raise a good general point, but conflating Eames style with minimalism is a mistake.

They were designers first and foremost. They made a lot of stuff!

If you're weighing the balance of your own minimalist inclinations with your appreciation of design, well, that's harder.

Get the stuff you really like, and don't hesitate to move it along to a new owner when your needs change. Also, do not look in my garage, basement, or barn. :)

dating a danish bird has really given an understanding of how valued their furniture is, how normal it is to see a 5k chair in someones room as an investment. Things that would have boggled my mind a few years ago. Yet now I see the chairs not just in Copenhagen but on american shows in the background. The longer I live the more I seem to learn about my environment. Notice things that I didnt understand before.

One reason to go to the Bay Area. And timely, given the post about the Bauhaus a few days ago.

Everything is booked. I'm on the waiting list for the last time slot.
