The obvious nitpick with the title is it should probably say "laptops", not "PCs".
This looks like a nice device but the little USB modules still feel like more of a gimmick than anything. Give me twice as many soldered ports in the same space and I won't have to fiddle around with (let alone buy) a bunch of these adapters. Sadly my deal-breaker remains - even on a great big 16" slab we still get the horrible half-height up/down cursor keys.
What I really do like about Framework is the ecosystem that's starting to grow around reusing old parts, that's excellent.
I can't seem to quit my Thinkpad, even as Lenovo gets worse. I need a Thinkpad style trackpoint. I was expecting after at least a few years, this would be available because modding old school Thinkpads is big in the same scene that Framework is in, but no.
Also any laptop I buy needs to have: 2x USB-C, 2x USB-A, 1x HDMI, 1x SD card, and 1x Ethernet. With framework 14, I get 4 ports and have to carry 3 adapters. If I want Ethernet, it isn't flush with the device. This seems absurd.
* Touchscreen plus pen
* Tent Mode
* ThinkPad/Dell Pointer Stick in the middle of the keyboard
Until then, my X1 Yoga (Arch) is my favorite!
Would LOVE to get a Framework though, but can't handle a UX regression hit to my workflow and productivity.
I'm hopeful that there will be 3rd party options for these features soon!!!
