It would be better if this was a blog post. I cbf clicking on a YouTube link.

Here's the link to the OS the YouTube video is talking about...

It's been around for a very long time and is actually a fork of MenuetOS...

Both are very impressive feats of assembly language engineering.

Same. People need re-discover writing. I was looking for how to reset a particular electronic device I have yesterday and the manufacturer has no manual. Only videos. Google also only showed videos. Soon we’ll be an illiterate species.

For millenia humans was divided between the illiterate mass and a literate elite. Mass literacy is a localised phenomenon historically and geographically. Youtube users chose their side. Choose your.

HG Wells forecast a division of humanity into eloi and morlocks in AD 802701; we may be just a little ahead of his schedule.

Gotta get that sweet, sweet YouTube monetization, apparently. We grit our teeth and take it on YouTube, but we (rightly, but also with consequences) have higher standards for text.

Projects like this make me wonder how small/large operating systems and programs would be today if people still felt the need to care about disk space.

Around 1998 (into the early 2000's) I ran LRP[0] on a 486 which provided NAT & firewall services behind my cable modem. It booted from a 1.44mb floppy and ran out of ramdisk iirc.

Fond memories of being completely blown away by the QNX disk that came with some magazine

You must be talking three decades ago or so.

Yes! It was complete with a complete GUI, browser, networking stack, ISDN dialler, everything there :)
