Things don’t quite add up with this article, why did AMD kill a project that benefits it in the AI space? Was it underwhelming? Was it violating any license terms of Nvidia?
> While AMD had been quietly funding ZLUDA for the past two years, the company decided to discontinue its support this year for unknown reasons. It’s possible that AMD wanted to avoid any possible lawsuits and so pulled out once the contract ended, meaning it couldn’t be directly tied to the project.
At best this could be a bridge for AMD to get their act together improving there stack. At worst it will keep developers from developing native compatibility. An impressive project but it has its limitations with compatibility.
