Ask HN: Non-native English speakers, what language tools do you use?

Hello, I am a non-native English speaker working in an international company where English is the primary language of communication.

Do you use any daily tools to aid your language skills? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Also, for Slack users, are there any recommendations for effective grammar enhancement tools or extensions?

I often find myself struggling with incorrect sentence structures, and issues with using the appropriate tone and tense.

To assist me, I regularly use Grammarly across text fields. For writing texts longer than a couple of paragraphs, I input my drafts in ChatGPT and I go through an iterative process where I ask it to help me to fix any linguistic issues.

I've yet to see a serious comparison of grammarly alternatives.

I feel there is already a lot of potential for using ChatGPT to replace most written language tools. For some actions, like rephrasing, I find that some prompt engeneering is necessary to precisely modify my "text" and/or get a useful "commentary" on it. As you said, iteration is also key. Just make sure to use GPT-4 (not 3.5).
