We can each and every one of us get by on far fewer resources and lead wonderful, fulfilling lives. No citation, that's just a feeling after having grown up in, benefited from (depends on perspective), and now grown disillusioned about consumerism, shucking off expensive hobbies and possessions and prioritizing community.
I have some concerns and questions about what this lower-resource life looks like for people with disabilities (my child, for one, but even before I had a child this was meaningful to me, though not as forefront as now). Does some sort of regulation limiting plastics use to medical devices make sense? And other such limits; we don't need to completely scrap high tech, but we certainly don't all need the level many of us currently enjoy, largely for our entertainment.
