Are we entering a world of surge dining? (marketplace.org)

I deeply hate dynamic pricing and certainly won't go to restaurants that do this. But I already don't go to restaurants that can't give me an actual menu, and it sounds like the overlap of those two things is 100%, so perhaps it changes nothing for me.

Not sure how this will work in reality. How are the prices going to be communicated?

If I want to take an uber to the airport, I can see whether it's going to be $15 or $28 (including surge), before I commit.

If I want to head downtown for pizza, are we expecting the restaurant to update their online price?

Most restaurants have crappy menu pdfs which aren't even IMHO mobile friendly.

Maybe this just a way to further nickle-n-dime you on top of the fees (line cook fees, workers health-insurance fee, busboy fee, mandatory tip fee) etc rather than just pay their works a regular wage.

Meh. Hard pass.
