Ask HN: Companies in Enshittification Mode?
5 points by prakhar897 on Jan 9, 2024 | hide | past | favorite | 5 comments
Tell me some companies who gathered a lot of users and are now locking them in and raising prices.

Here's a few I know:

1. Qualtrics: Doubled their prices last year, product is really buggy.

2. Unity: Almost charged developers per game install.

3. Blu Smart: Swore to never use surge pricing. Introduced "rush hour" pricing instead.

Who else?

Reddit with the API changes and general advertiser nonsense so they can look pretty at IPO

Twitter, I'm seeing outright boner pill ads these days.

Max…formerly HBO Max…

All of these are enshittified in my opinion: google, facebook, twitter, reddit, insomnia(kong being the company), companies that make printers, dropbox, postman, unity, microsoft(windows in particular), medium.

the list goes on and on

Netflix
