702 has it's problems, should be reformed, maybe replaced or shutdown or whatever. But the tone of the article is so far off the reservation, it's actually insulting. The program, whatever it's flaws, is a real and large part of the national security apparatus that largely functions as intended day in and day out. I'm not trying to go all Boromir "Are your lands kept safe..." but the self righteous indignation that we need to gut the intelligence community just because some fbi analysts deserve jail time is asinine and betrays the authors severe misunderstanding and makes a sympathetic argument revolting.
