Can someone ELI5 why we haven't switched from antibiotics to bacteriophages yet? I've heard dozens of times that it would solve the whole resistance problem since bacteria can't be resistant to all of the major classes of antibiotics and bacteriophages at the same time. As someone not educated on the matter, it seems like a no brainer.


My layman understanding is that they can't be mass-produced and stored/packaged easily, because it's an individual process. For now. Also massive NIH (not invented here!) apart from former eastern-bloc countries.
