Ask HN: Anyone else getting an empty landing page on YouTube while logged out?

Today in one of my browsers the YouTube.com landing page is completely empty aside for the sidebar menu and a notice that implies I have to log or grant google permission to track me in order for the landing page to show any content. I guess it's impossible for google to populate the landing page with something from all those trending pages filled with content...

I assume this is somehow related to the current adblock wars. Sure is annoying, especially as google has deemed this particular browser unfit to be allowed to access the throwaway account I had made for youtube.

FF on Android, account-less YT- front page appears empty for me, but I like it that way- less temptation to waste time watching content I was not intending to watch :)

If you just want empty every time, use a site running invidious like https://yewtu.be/

I'm getting a similar thing while logged in, only it gives me context by telling me my watch history is off in place of showing any videos. I like it; I generally go to YouTube to search for or watch something very specific, but am easily distracted by recommendations so I'd rather just not have them at all.

Hmm.. Firefox on Leenucks with cookies removed and using a private window (and a normal window) seems to work fine (and I haven't setup sync for Firefox.) google-chrome-stable on linux with cookies removed in normal and private windows works fine for me. lynx on linux looks pretty ugly.

I've had a blank landing page for a while. However, I tend to prune channels pretty aggressively with BlockTube. YouTube still works ok, though- cause I can just search and start watching videos. My geotargeted homepage has only garbage to offer anyway.

Silly me I didn't realize I had uBlock Origin on. Turned it off and everything works.
