Seems like just a form that you submit and someone manually generates a story for you using ChatGPT and emails it to you? Interesting actual MVP I guess to gauge interest, but waiting 24 hours for someone to manually do this is kind of silly.
Exactly. I will manually generate a story. 24h is a made-up number not to set the expectations to high if there are lots of requests or because of time zone difference, etc.

This is humorously wise. I feel like I just read a Chinese proverb on how start a software business. Very few programmers could hold themselves back from going further on their first iteration.

Similar to browser games that give you a new Tower Defense map every 24h, or Wordle and all its variations, or .. "A roguelike a day keeps the Balrog away" (that's the tagline, forgot the actual name).
I don't think it's ChatGPT just based on the topic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were just some big local model run manually (and probably stalled to run all in the queue at once rather than having a beefy server running 24/7) and/or just more slowly run on a less-beefy machine and 24H is just padding to account for slower token/sec and not parallelizing generations across users.
While the most recent version releases reportedly made some of the existing techniques less effective, there seems to be (judging from indications visible from the outside) a substantial community of people using ChatGPT through the UI or gpt-3.5-turbo, gpt-4/gpt-4-turbo via API, for smut, with various prompt jailbreaking techniques.
Smut aside, long-form writing is actually not that "easy" to full automate with LLMs.
Context windows cause things to break down very quickly. And overfitting of brief and to the point RLHF responses, as well as summary datasets makes coaxing many of the models into slowly narrating things, as one would in a novel is challenging.
Agent-based approach is one way to tackle this, but in that case maintaining narrative style coherency is also somewhat difficult to get right.
Come to think of it, it's actually pretty hard to automate any sort of advanced artwork generation with LLMs. Once you go beyond your average prooompting, you have to put in a lot of work.

I think this idea of having a custom AI generated Choose Your Own Adventure, in the universe of your choice, is really cool. As for the "smut" aspect, I'd immediately pass on that as long as another human is involved.
