Show HN: I made iOS app that converts any speech into clear&structured text (letterly.app)

Hello!

I left my job, gathered with friends and focused on creating this iOS app. The idea is simple: it turns speech into well-structured clear text which you can save as a note.

It's not only transcription. We used OpenAI tech, fine-tuned prompts, trained it with our texts, and added one-button rewrite options.

Recently, doctor was gaving me recommendations. I switched on my app and got bullet points of his advice.

Any comment would be super valuable, guys! Thank you in advance!

Hmm. Are you sending all this text over to a server somewhere to be processed, or are you doing all this work locally on-device?

If you're doing the former (like Grammarly), then I'm not interested.

If you're doing the latter (and you can prove it), then it sounds very interesting!

Hello! Apologies for the delay in response. We use "the former" approach and process the text on a remote server, sorry :) Processing complexities demand substantial resources that are beyond the capacity of end user devices. However, I want to emphasize that we do not keep any personal data.

It would also be very helpful if you could share insights on why this is important.

It's pretty simple. I want all of my data stored and processed locally.

That's why I'm switching away from cloud cameras to cameras that use a local NVR.

There are some things that I can't avoid having processed or stored in the cloud, but I'm going to be local-only for everything I can.

Just a short feedback. There’s a need to make groups of notes, now they seem to be scattered

Thank you very much, yes, indeed, we are currently actively considering these
