There are so many OpenAI-powered tools that are doing this or similar things in the market right now. I just spoke with one this morning that is one of three others I've recently spoken with that take your data model and database schema/metadata information and use OpenAI's API to take natural language and write absolutely terrible SQL before running the code in your environment and returning the results.

Please, any VCs out there who see companies doing this, please stop giving them your money so they stop asking me for mine. It's not that the technology couldn't be impactful, but these shitty companies are not doing anything novel, the results are astoundingly amateurish, and the value just isn't there.

Generative AI is fucking cool and there are some incredible tools out there doing amazing things when integrated into preexisting software solutions. But anything having to do with databases, SQL, analytics, etc are just not there yet. Save your money.

I don't really get it. It won't tell you where it's hosted, or on what infra. You can't connect an application to the database. When I asked it this question, it gave the following:

---

Learning and Experimentation: If you're learning SQL or database management, you can use my services to practice and experiment. You can write SQL queries and see them executed in a real database environment, which is great for educational purposes.

Prototype Development: You can use me to prototype database designs and queries. This is especially useful in the early stages of project development when you're figuring out your database schema or testing complex SQL queries.

Database Migration Management: I can assist in creating and managing database migrations. This is particularly useful if you're planning the structure of a new database or modifying an existing one.

SQL Execution and Troubleshooting: If you're not sure why a certain SQL statement isn't working as expected, you can test it with me. I can execute the SQL and provide feedback, which can be a helpful debugging tool.

---

So it's like having postgres running on my machine to play with, but i dont run the queries myself. I don't need a postgres playground. For my migrations and query debugging, I already use gpt4. Why do I need it to actually access a db too?

What am I missing?

This company is moving so fast. I love how incompetent they make other elite tech companies look. I love the broken roll outs, unrefined UIs seeing massive product market fit.

Are the permissions set correctly for this GPTs? I'm getting a generic "Sign up to Chat" page even though I'm logged in with a Plus subscription. Tried multiple browsers with a fresh login too

Yesterday was trying to test some GPTs and was having the same, with multiple browsers. At the end, opened it in safari, then followed the link opening the iOS chatgpt client, and it worked and became available to my other chatgpt instances.

But something is broken there. At least right now.

Same. It's broken.
