I have a directory-like website in the top 10,000 that pulls in over 1.1mm unique pageviews per month. 92.5% of traffic is from organic search, and 65% of traffic is from the US. It's a .com domain, PageRank is 3.
The content is highly monetizable -- I'm seeing over $5.00 Page RPMs with only three AdSense ad units per page. It has netted over $4,000-5,000 per month for the last 6 months, and traffic is growing steadily. Only half of the content is currently monetized, the other half links to torrent / adult related websites, and is not allowed to serve AdSense ads. I reckon it could pull another $1,000/month from some other ad network.
The site runs itself for $50/month.
