Perhaps not the best example. There's nothing reprehensible about being part Jewish or having health problems. It would be better to just... not be ashamed of those things. That's in no way comparable to using one's position of power to coerce people into sex.

Each news outlet has to issue corrections.

Here’s the current list for the New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/section/corrections

Should we not read the news…or is it an opportunity to verify what one reads (aka mental hygiene)…?

The Soviet newspaper Pravda issued corrections too. I wouldn't trust it more than the New York Times. https://nypost.com/2022/02/20/the-absurd-russiagate-pulitzer... They didn't retract their Pulitzer for Russiagate. They never retracted their stories about Iraq having WMDs in 2003 either. Their excuse is coached language, like the 50 intelligence agencies who signed a letter saying the NYPost Hunter Biden Laptop story had "all the hallmarks of Russian Disinformation", Saddam had all the hallmarks of having WMDs so there's no need to retract.

I believe nobody. Likewise, I don’t seek to be right.

I am a man of science and post [Citation Needed] on occasion. I seek to be correct.

If one is Right, they must defend their position.

If one is incorrect, updating is usually easy and quick, unless something needs to be dealt with…current facts only, please…
