The plastic-eating bacteria that could change the world (theguardian.com)

I'm tempted to add to the headline, "and not in a good way"... this scenario has already been covered by dystopian sci-fi.

We as a society are just getting over the effects of a global pandemic. Imagine if the same happened with plastic-eating bacteria. Look around at everything within reach that's made of plastic and consider the effects that would have.

The problem isn't plastic. It's the irrational ideological emotion-driven virtue-signaling and "climate crisis" BS that'll drive us closer to catastrophic events.

We also have a lot of things made of wood. They can last 100s of years if well taken care of.

It’s inevitable that nature learns to break down plastic, just like it did with wood (there was a long period where trees didn’t biodegrade). I think it’s a good thing if we help accelerate that. It’s the only way to make sure microplastic pollution doesn’t become an increasingly large problem.

Yeah, we should reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in nature to begin with. But getting to 0% is impossible. And plastics are too useful to not use them at all. The impact on nature would be worse, since the replacements often use more resources.

... and create more garbage. Brought to you by the same people who replaced plastic bags with paper ones.
