What on earth is Linux doing with generating Windows binary (PE) headers?

...oh, EFI boot stuff. Almost forgot it's all FAT filesystems and PE binaries.

That'll be an interesting bit of greyhair lore on Linux systems 40 years from now...

Could be both, and/or vary over time. ;)


Do I get it right that big distros like Ubuntu don't run this code because they use grub instead? Or does EFI grub still invoke that code path once it boots the kernel?
