Ask HN: Is it possible to get a second higher education online?

I received an advertisement for one of these distance education institutions and would like to see if there is an established market for such institutions.

How much does it usually cost and how long does it usually take to study?

Will I really get a real diploma that will help me migrate to EU/US?

I’m a seasoned online learning student with several degrees earned online and one earned by actually attending in person and I would say that it depends on what you’re wanting to study and the institute. There are definitely credible distance educational institutions that do a really good job of delivering their course content online, and you graduate with a recognised qualification, the cost and the time it takes depends on what you’re studying, where you’re studying and what level of higher education you want to achieve. Do your research about the qualification, the institute, and also research how they deliver the courses online, and what online learning support they offer, because something I notice is some people really struggle with online learning because it tends to be a bit more self-driven/self-directed and some students (usually young ones - but not always) seem to want someone to guide them step by step through every little thing. I prefer online learning because I always struggled with sharing a learning space with people that are slow, and I’ve always had issues with the teacher/student dynamic - I like to be set a task, and then I go off and figure out how to complete it in my own way without interference from others.
