> The last total eclipse in continental Europe occurred on March 29, 2006 and in continental part of European Union it occurred on August 11, 1999

August 11 1999 is the day my family moved from the France to the US. We were in the air during the eclipse and must have flown right on the edge shadow or something because one side of the plane was dark while the other half was lit (longitudinally).

Sounds cool. I have to assume the pilot tried to do that on purpose.

I saw the same eclipse when I was on a plane from Rome to Seoul. I don't remember it too well anymore but really cool experience.

One of the two eclipses I hope/plan to observe in my lifetime. This one will be visible from many Spanish cities, although it will be evening :-( There are many sites with eclipse details, but I prefer timeanddate [0]

In my opinion the eclipse of August 2nd 2027 [1], [2] will be a much better one. Maximum duration of totality is going to be more than 6 minutes and almost passing over Luxor [3] and Mecca [4], both important historical/religious locations. It will also pass over many popular tourist cities.

Just remembered the Magic Lantern eclipse user meeting that's been planned since 2020 https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=25236.0

Time to walk the Camino de Santiago!
