What causes brain inflammation? I’m guessing rare disease, but dropping a kid? Is the duration of inflammation a factor?

Meningitis isn’t super rare. Various infections. Children don’t have a fully developed immune system.

So many dead children contributed to this study. I can’t imagine having to be a researcher on this.

Perhaps one can imagine a researcher who knows many children die every day, uselessly, and it filled them with hope to honor those children, by leveraging their tragedy to try to improve the future.

Context from article:

> comparing individuals who had died while experiencing inflammation to those who had died as a result of an accident.
