Yes, I realize this is most likely an April Fools joke, but serious question: Are there any IRC clients and servers that offer in-built public key cryptography? It seems that IRC should be ideal for such a scheme. Private keys for channels should be supplied by channel operators to trusted individuals, with perhaps a multi-tier scheme. One set of keys for moderators, another for voiced users, a third for unvoiced users, and finally clear text for guests, and of course individual keys for each user for direct messaging.
Does something like this exist?
