Only high neutron low residual radiation would make sense, the risk is of longterm harm to their own state with radioactivity. This is "kill living things, leave buildings alone, mostly"

The bombs exist as a threat to keep other actors at bay. They have limited use in close proximity to what the user seeks to defend.

Look at the shape of the Gaza strip. There's little or no directional control to the yield, so how do you use a nuclear device effectively against the Gaza strip without damaging your own nation, if you are Israel?

Low yield weapons wouldn't deliver enough upside benefit. You can achieve the same outcomes with fuel air explosives.

They're a strategic weapon. This isn't a strategic opportunity which improves by using them.

No. Their presumed nukes are more useful as a deterrent against more capable enemies that might develop their own nukes. And they'd immediately become an absolute pariah state. That would damage them in every way.

Seriously?

I don't think there is anyone that insane even in Israel that would nuke a bunch of folks with AK 47's on Mopeds and Toyota trucks. What would that even accomplish, you would lose any support you have from the entire world.

Although Israel does not have a decent army, they are considered powerful because they have only fought poorly armed opponents and civilians for the last few decades. They have not been tested in many decades. A true test would be fighting Egypt or possibly Iran , a country with 1000's of tanks, artillery , ballistic missiles, etc. Like Ukraine is fighting now. Maybe then if you were going to lose and cease to exist there would be a possibility of using a Nuclear bomb.
