Ask HN: How to market a macOS app distributed outside the AppStore

Hi HN

I’ve developed a couple of macOS apps but I’m using the Accessibility Framework and could not distribute them on the Apple AppStore.

Do you have any tips or advice on how to promote them?

As an indie developer I find it quite challenging to get traffic. Unlike the AppStore where I could focus on AppStore Optimization (ASO).

How would you market any app? Find where your users are. You did find your users and talked to them about their problems before creating your product, right?
