Weirdness with this continues because it became a popular issue in media/politicians at multiple levels dragged in....

So much misinformation around what's common out there, and the basic challenges to getting full underground subway mobile access when the technology has not been put in place. NYC barely just getting it in the last year? London only just started to get it recently also. People's perception of what "mobile access" on transit is when they're in Europe on above-ground trams and stuff is ridiculous.

And then there's the "forcing a private company to work with it's competitors when there's not a real financial incentive to do so" thing. I'm not on Rogers side, I mean, Canadian telecom has long been a mess dominated/controlled by like 2 major firms, but there's a commerical reason this wasn't built into the underground system all these years. Why would Rogers help Bell customers etc. Framing this as some public 'safety' thing has only become a thing recently because it was a hot issue in the recent Toronto mayoral election due to increase in transit incidents. But forcing Rogers to 'play nice' whatever that means with their competitors?
