I believe forms of “ma” and “pa”/“ba” are almost universal for mother and father.


That's mainly Sanskrit. It has various forms in most Indian languages. For example, Malayalam has "mataav^" and "pitav^"

But the commoner words for parents in Malayalam is "amma" and "appa/acha".
