If we banned political advertising, a lot of the problems involved in campaign finance would disappear. If the only political advocacy you could do was person-person and via debates on network TV, you'd have a lot fewer problems
I'd say most problems would be eliminated if you could only vote for someone you can talk to at least once a month, about problems that directly concern you. Yes this means citizens wouldn't be able to directly vote for a president. But as is evident, they're completely incompetent to do so.
