You're misrepresenting the parent comment's viewpoint as a binary choice. There is a massive spectrum between shareholder-value-above-all and the "communism boogeyman".


Sorry but I don't find many differences between large capitalist corporate hierarchical structure and the SSSR one. Do you?

Just stop subsidizing large businesses, revert regulatory capture and give incentives to start new businesses as coops for instance.

I get that most people have been brought up in the "greedy by default" mode, but that's no excuse to give up and just transact ourselves to oblivion.
