America’s Most Tech-Forward City Has Doubts About Self-Driving Cars (wsj.com)

By tech forward , they mean the town famous for tech where tech people’s personal interest seem poorly influenced. Sfo is the only city I know that banned the scooters when they came out. Bricks thrown at busses. Constant harassment . Ancient city infrastructure. I’d say this title is just wrong and they should consider a retraction

It seems like a majority of the issues I keep hearing about are Cruise AVs.

Maybe it’s time to revoke their operating permits and stop treating them with kid gloves because it’s GM? It feels like they were able to slam through all of the approvals and permits just because “they were GM” even though none of their shit was proven to work compared to Waymo’s efforts.

And now that Cruise wants to try to push cars out into the wild with no controls in them they might be able to get away with it when Waymo was basically forced to scrap the Firefly program because of no controls.

Could also be called “America’s most fucked up region intent on killing the Golden Goose”
