This author is the poster child of "confidently incorrect". Forest acres burned per year has been steadily increasing according to every reputable source I've seen (see the WRI link in another comment, I've also independently verified this in north America). Furthermore, that's the wrong metric. We need to consider things that are actually relevant to human beings - number of air quality emergency days, evacuations, financial damages, water quality issues - all increasing too.
It's one thing to be wrong or ignorant. It's another to cherrypick evidence and get the big picture so wrong yet still go out there and shout it from the rooftops anyways. The idiot has no shame.
