YouTube Premium quietly goes up in price to $14 per month (engadget.com)

It's a $1/mo increase. I got an email about it with 50+ days notice. It even had an unsubscribe link should I have been so inclined. No complaints here (except the extra buck).

I recently bought Premium because I realized 80% of my media consumptions is from it. Compare that to Hulu plus or cable and even at 14 a month its a great deal

"Everything's fine, we're not circling the drain, we'll be able to pay all that interest somehow..."

They should really bundle this with YouTube TV. Their offering has gotten weak over the past year — at least for me — and a YT Premium sub for free or heavily discounted would definitely make me more interested in keeping it. Otherwise, I find it too expensive in a world where ad blocking is so easily done.

I’d rather they unbundle sports from YouTube TV. They’ve “reimagined” cable with the same forced bundling and sports subsidies that ruined cable in the first place.

YouTube TV is a US-only streaming platform. YouTube Premium is global? offering. So they are for different audiences.

Pretty sure that doesn’t matter in this instance.

It is now matter of time before YouTube Premium add ads

Still $7.99 a month for me. Google hasn't tried to weasel out of that price guarantee yet. Unfortunately I can't say that about every company that promised me an early adoption price guarantee.

It was for me until they "forgot" I had a backup card on my payment account and cancelled it when my card expired. The bastards. It's now cheaper to switch to a family plan... But I would have kept that forever.

Considering how much we watch from it, this lets me continue to support the platform and the creators and get around annoying ads? Definitely! YouTube is one of the few bright spots on the modern Internet, and I'm very willing to support it financially.

Between YouTube Music and the Ad-Free YouTube videos, this is the one subscription I just can't let go. If they ever try to put advertisements back though I'm going to drop them like a buttered cucumber.

The family plan went up $5/mo to 23$/mo a good bit back.

Good for up to 6 family members, but notably everyone is supposed to be at the same address.

I have the family plan and was annoyed by that $5 increase.. they didn’t also just raise that again did they? $23 is already high enough

Is anyone else seeing ads in search results, even with Premium?

Too rich for my blood.

Seems on par with inflation
