As a Canadian, this is another failed policy of this out of touch government.

The wages in Canada is low and cost of living is extremely high. In my hometown Toronto, even with tech salary you can’t afford to buy a condo, most condos are selling north of 700k CAD. It’s ridiculous.

In the end, this is another wealthy buying passport mechanism where they do their 3years to get the passport and then use the TN visa to move down south. There is too much wage disparity and cost of living. I will give you an example. Across the border near Niagra, a house in Buffalo costs 170k, here it’s 600K. Average software engineer in Canada makes around 100-120K, in US you can make double that (not to mention CAD is weaker than USD). You do the math.

Yes, but canada is pretty and the people are friendly. Salaries are low because people will work for less to get to live there. Housing costs more because people will pay more to get to live there. Plus the immigration policy is much more relaxed than the US. Another issue there is how the polulation is concentrated in a handful of cities near the US border. More cities in the colder more northern canada would be ideal. People want to migrate there, so make more cities for them or invest in city infra/planning in exisiting northern cities

Canada is a huuuuuuuge country. 2nd largest by land mass - almost 10 million km^2. The population is 38M.

IMO Canada needs to build more housing, more livable cities.

Price is a reflection of demand and supply. Price going up means supply isn't keeping up with demand.

Yall gotta bring one doctor, two nurses and one engineer for each tech worker. We discussed it.
