To put this in relative terms, there are approximately 3 trillion trees on earth today[1].

The roughest of napkin math estimates that it takes approximately 3 trillion trees(10kgCO2/yr)[2] just to absorb annual human CO2 emissions(37,857Mt/yr)[3].

This submission is yet another attempt to steer HN towards political discussion.

There are enough other sites for doing that.


Tree planting on this scale is often just a cynical ploy to sell carbon offsets, in order to make a lot of money.


This is a ruse; the Republican party altogether after Nixon has never shown even the slightest interest in environmental issues.



If you don't allow someone to admit mistakes, change, do better and eventually earn forgiveness then why would they bother trying?


Forgiveness comes after action. An apology is nice but they don't get points for standing in the way of progress only to give a damn when the apocalypse is at their doorstep.
