Bad numbers in the “gzip beats BERT” paper?
Why gzip, and not a more complex compression algorithm like 'xz'? Or if you want it to be fast then 'zstd' or 'lz4'. Gzip is an odd choice: is it neither the highest compression ratio, nor the fastest.
