Ukraine joining NATO is a sure guarantee of WWIII. Putin is a clown, yes - but allowing Ukraine to join NATO would only reinforce the fact that anything the US says in regards to foreign policy in Eastern Europe cannot be taken seriously and should not be trusted.
People are cheering for stability once Ukraine is in NATO, Russia will no longer be able to try and subjugate them again and overall region stability will increase.
Are we not already in WWIII? What is the leading cause of death among military service age-eligible men in the US? Would war increase or decrease that death toll? There is a rational case for war, but not in the Ukraine.
I fear that political powers (both parties) are already laying the groundwork to make the Ukraine war the next Iraq. If this actually comes to fruition I can't say I still see much benefit to living in the US.
