I've been using an imported FP4 in Canada for a while now. It's an alright phone. The software is slow to update, and there are known bugs with the fingerprint reader that haven't been fixed yet.

What's annoying to me now is a glitch where the screen will randomly start tapping all over. I assume it's a hardware thing as it just started out of the blue.

I love the idea of FP4 and swapping the battery out this year for a fresh one was awesome. The big thing for me is that if they really want to fulfill the promise of a long-term phone that lives forever, they better get a handle on software quality.

That is the thing. Is taking your phone to Apple and getting the battery swapped out every 18 months really that prohibitive? Are all the other compromises worth it?

Privacy and auditable trust are priceless.
