I went to the site and then clicked the fake "back" button to see if I could get a sense of mastadon discussions. It's literally all just people taking jabs at Twitter. Ignoring the other challenges, that doesn't feel like an interesting community to join, it feels like an opposition that defines itself by not being something.

You can't think of why Twitter would be an abnormally active topic of discussion today? You really came to an impression of the community based on extrapolating this weekend's discussion to be the norm, immediately after Twitter broke itself to a degree unprecedented in large social network history?

That is not normal for Mastodon. I would suggest that timing might just have a little to do with it?


Oh dear, is it still like this? Every time I’ve tried using Mastodon I’ve hit a wall of “Elon Bad” political tribalism.

I am not on Mastodon, but links to it from HN always load quickly for me.
