Ask HN: Can you feel changes in barometric pressure in your body?

I cannot feel anything in my body change when the barometric pressure changes, but my spouse can for sure. They get chronic pain flare-ups whenever the pressure decreases drastically.

I have chronic injuries that act up occasionally, but after tracking barometric pressure for the past two years, I found no correlation.

yep, I had/have juvenile arthritis, and I can tell you when the air pressure drops. when it goes up i really can't.. I also live a mile above sealevel, so pretty much most places i travel to are lower altitude and my arthritis is better for a few days. sucks when i come home but atleast im home then.

Have you considered permanently moving? I have health issues that would be alleviated by moving to milder climate instead of living up north but it'd be a huge undertaking. Nevertheless I'm considering it more and more each year.

I'm in the desert southwest, but in a high desert area, sure we get weather swings, but far less than many places. And i do enjoy the fact that i can travel lower altitude places and feel great for a bit. not only the air pressure, but the oxygen content goes way up. So i feel even fitter. if i moved somewhere coastal or whatnot, every time i traveled uphill i would feel worse once i've acclimated.
