Vocal fry at end of sentences now part of U.S. speech (science.org)

"A curious vocal pattern has crept into the speech of young adult women who speak American English: low, creaky vibrations, also called vocal fry. College-age women end sentences in the lowest vocal register, a creaky vibration called vocal fry, possibly to broadcast themselves as part of a social group."

It could be a counter action to the more recent criticisms of uptalk.

This is not a surprise considering the popularity of the Kardashians.
