That’s massively disappointing. I’ve contributed fixes to documentation over a dozen times in the last couple of years.

They should fix their process instead of removing the ability to contribute fixes to docs.

Why do you want to work for free to make AWS better anyways?

Because it’s the best of the cloud providers and spending 2 minutes to submit a doc update to help others is worth it to me?

"the best of the cloud providers"

Honestly don't know if this is true or not.

Of all the cloud providers which one currently bests AWS? Google is a shit show. Azure is desperately still trying to catch up. Oracle cloud… lol.

The only real complaint majority of people have with aws is price and 95% of the time it’s because they can’t spend 10 minutes doing so math or building their setup right to not cost them.

My main complaint with AWS's UI is everything is needlessly complicated and manual, unintuitive, and covered by sprawling documentation. In direct comparison to GCP, I can find out how to do almost anything of interest within the creation wizard provided in the UI itself, but if I do need documentation, there will be two or three gcloud commands which do what I need, and I'm off to the races.

Curious to hear your specific complaints with GCP.

I could take your argument about aws and apply it to GCP. That’s nothing more than familiarity.

My biggest complaint on GCP is the support. With AWS when needing support we get responses in 10m to a few hours depending on the severity of the issue. I raised a ticket with GCP about 3 months ago due to a VM vanishing. Could connect to it but not see it in their UI. Took a week to get it back with no explanation. Just magically appeared and ticket closed. Granted our bill with AWS is 25k/m while GCP is about 2k. Thankfully we don’t run production on GCP. Just use it for testing (as we do with Azure)

I contend that things I've never done in GCP are much easier than things I've never done in AWS. Anyway, I don't have any experience with support because I've never used it (not a dig at you).

It sounds like you might be using the free community support that comes with any amount of GCP usage, is that right? Just like AWS, you get community support for free and they offer paid support tiers for a monthly fee with minimum response time for each severity level. If you are paying, the highest response time appears to be one business day. If you are paying for support and didn't get it, that does sound like a serious problem.

Paying for support on all 3. Pay for higher level support on aws cos that’s production. But the quality of support on gcp has been terrible. Not expecting immediate response but getting no response or unsatisfactory response is worse than slow.

Aws service integration would be another thing they do better. The level of service integration is kinda insane.

What do you mean by service integration?

AWS is the most reliable cloud provider.

hope you have a stable job somewhere... else..
