That kind of answers itself, doesn't it? They're an NYT reporter and haven't had a byline in three years. They're probably not gonna approach John Carreyrou – also at the Times – or someone who already has a good thing going and doesn't need to publish a puff piece.
It makes total sense why Amy Chozick, if she’s a struggling and desperate journalist would accept a PR-planted softball story. Holmes probably farmed it to others first who turned it down.
What’s strange is why the NYT would run it and why they wouldn’t edit to correct such a bad story.
