Cypress E2E test automation breaks open-source integration for “security”
6 points by xvinci on June 2, 2023 | hide | past | favorite
Cypress E2E testing framework will apparently break compatibility with very popular open-source dashboard https://sorry-cypress.dev/ which is used to watch the execution of your E2E tests.

This is from an email we received:

We recently released changes to encrypt our private Cypress API requests for improving network security and stability of the overall Cypress testing experience. We are currently rolling this out across our user base and expect this to be complete effective June 30, 2023.
We have identified that this might impact the recording of tests for your projects using an on-premise instance of Sorry Cypress.
You will not be obligated to migrate off Sorry Cypress, however your action will be required to continue recording without disruption.
It's in everybody's right to earn money from what they are doing but:

- Please don't bs us so hard, holy moly

- As far as I can see cypress does not offer an on-premise hosted version, so this makes it a no-go for many of our (b2b) customers, and this is not even talking about GDPR etc.

I'd love to hear your suggestions for alternatives (as long as its not based on selenium, we had terrible experiences with that for the last 10 years).
