This whole thing is going to be a massive disaster....except for all the consultants working on the Neom project, who have so far managed to make out like bandits.
But, the Kingdom has so many trillions of dollars, they literally do not care. It's make-work at the largest of scale imaginable funded by religious despots who have so much money that failure doesn't matter.
*Disclaimer: my dad was offered a role on the Neom project, and he turned it down. A family friend of ours spent roughly a year on the project, even relocating to Riyadh for most of that time. AFAIK She didn't have many positive things to say, but she got paid an absolutely absurd amount of money for her time. The same group of Neom consultants working on PIF's behalf made an offer for the company I was with at the time, and it turns out that they are quite cheap when they want to be, despite having endless resources.
