Would you invest in a smart belt or prefer regular old pin hole belts? (prelaunch.com)

I don't need a world where my pants fall off because my wifi router is down, or because I forgot to pay my monthly subscription fee. I don't need my belt to send me weather updates, or to measure my glucose or my number of steps. I don't need it to help me navigate. I just need my belt to be a belt.

Commenting to something you didn't read? j/k but it's not electronic in any way. It's more like those belts that clamp instead of having the pin hole, except that the clamp won't rough up the leather.

You do raise a valid point, even if by accident: The word "smart" is getting to be overused, to the point that it evokes very specific expectations - ones that this belt does not even attempt satisfy. I would have named it differently.

Your response brought to mind quite a dystopian, yet periodically comical future.

Guilty as charged.

You could put a CPU on a belt for less than the cost of a leather belt - but I don't know about wifi and charging. That might get pricy.

Thanks! (I think.)

On to the topic of what you're actually doing... a pin hole is fine for me, except it's not infinitely adjustable, and over time the belt starts to break around the hole that's used. I presume your belt fixes the first problem; does it do anything for the second?

Thanks for your comment, my belt fixes both problems. Its easily adjustable, super comfortable, fits perfectly and doesn't break. Its handmade with Italian leather, hand-polished and will last for a very long time. Also comes with a polish/cleaner for a quick polish whenever you want to wear it and also a cotton dust bag to preserve your belt

The belt doesn't have an electronic device built into it that you have to pay subscription to. Its smart in the way it operates and adjusts compared to a 5 pin hole regular belts. moreover this is handmade with durable leather that will last much longer than regular belts.

Now show me what happens when you run it through an x-ray machine at the airport

I don't get the connection you are trying to make. What are you suggesting might happen?

Some type of interference causing the electronic components in the belt to fail, thereby loosening the belt to its default state and my pants falling down in public

And yes I am also commenting on something I didn't read. I see "smart" being used to describe a product and automatically assume it has electronic/internet capabilities.

A webbing belt has the more adjustment range for <$20.

This belt is a handmade belt with high quality Italian leather not the $20 mass produced belts with PU leather that blisters and breaks off within 1-3 months of use. My belt can last up to 5 years and more if taken care of well.
