Wow this is so cool. I've always wondered exactly what Iain Banks was imagining when he wrote the culture books, this is perfect (for me). I see Player of Games regularly recommended on here, and I suspect there are many here who'll be equally excited :-)
I don't think we'd call every product an advertisement. It's an advertisement if the person posting benefits financially from posting. E.g. they were paid to, or they get royalties from the sales.
