Wait, I always assumed small stacks wasn't about the number of stack frames, but the amount of data in them! It's expensive to copy data around and most stack frames are ephemeral so would imply copying data around.

(Of course, you could set a limit on the size of a stack frame instead of the entire stack, so maybe that's not a good explanation.)
