"Half of the people living in democracies (49%) say that the influence of Big Tech companies, such as Google, Amazon, Apple, and Facebook, threatens democracy in their country."

(Though, the validity is undermined by a separate question on global corporations, and the methodology in general can be called into question.)

Almost spilled my coffee earlier when I saw this topic and comments on my usually extremely censored HN. Then I realized the time of day and that the US based mods are probably still asleep. By now this topic has of course been shadow removed and hidden from other viewers. Welcome to the dystopia.

Despite of HN's alleged position and interestingly enough, the US ranks third in this concern. But as said, the methodology is somewhat unclear. Here is a more balanced take:

It is a global thing.

Well that was a waste of time

Their link to a bit.ly/42IqhXx is broken.

Here's the direct link:

The problem I have is the PDF isn't searchable.

From here [1]:

> The Alliance of Democracies Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former NATO Secretary General and former Prime Minister of Denmark

Really, now? What's next, the Red Army starting to lecture us on human rights?

At least the propaganda is out in the open, they've left aside any shame or second thoughts. In so doing also blemishing whatever was left of the concept of democracy, but at this point it's just ideological collateral damage.

Once again, do not attribute a study to its funder. This survey was conducted by Latana together with the University of Denver. As I pointed out, there is plenty of room for legitimate criticism, but this conspiracious ranting is not such criticism.
