Making People Uncomfortable Can Now Get You Killed (nytimes.com)

Trying to ignore the guy with the arrest record a mile long and who is currently making you 'uncomfortable' by screaming obscenities in your face because he is mentally ill or high on drugs; can also get you killed when he pulls out a knife or pushes you into the path of an oncoming train.

No kidding. I feel like people have really lost the plot. I'm not sure they even understand what they're supporting at this point. On one hand you have people claiming that not adhering to whatever ideology of the week is literal violence, and then they dismiss an actual violent criminal as just making people feel uncomfortable. I think this kind of pushing the limits of credulity is intentional.

This is such horseshit. Having an arrest record means I can strangle you in public for being too loud?

Having a record of illegal gun possession [1]—and allegations of assault, attempted murder and trying to push people on the tracks—makes me question the facts and circumstances that led three people [2] to use force to subdue him.

That doesn’t justify death. But it might be less than manslaughter. In short, let’s wait for the full picture. (The public figures turning this into a media circus should be better.)

When you defund the police and or replace them with glorified hall monitors, we are going to see more situations like this.

You can also thank the politicians that made it nearly impossible to commit someone to a mental health facility against their will.
