This is of course illegal since it's claiming dead people are paying for a product in order to advertise it. I filed an FTC complaint just cause it was easy.
nb the old Blue was useful and I did pay for it, the new one is basically features for scammers and people who want to get into fights.
Twitter was and is such an absolute cesspit of humanity though. Its only (arguable) use was that celebrities were forced to hear people call them shit to their faces. At least until the option to filter out people who didn't have checkmarks was added
Elon meanwhile is so criminally addicted to fucking attention that he didn't realize buying the site would immediately turn it into the worlds biggest magnifying glass aiming that burning star of hatred directly on him
If twitter bankrupts or ousts him as CEO of the other companies he helms it'll be the "redemption arc" of that awful platform
Activition and subscription are two different tasks though. There may have been some delay in decision making making whether or not to allow dead people to be verified and also the payment method.
We have hundreds of thousands of people, including many dead people (or their supposed teams) suddenly deciding, within hours of each other, to sign up. We have had enough people explicitly say they'll never sign up ahead of time, and after their check showed up, they said they didn't sign up. And we had Elon Musk himself admit he's "subscribing" people objecting to the program.
I mean... how much more evidence do you want?
It's mass, MASS false endorsement. And that's highly ILLEGAL.
